Stump Mugshot

Well, I've had a lot of time off of work recently because I tore a bicep muscle in my arm while at work last week. Fortunately, it wasn't my right arm, which is my drawing arm. So I've been turning my attention back to getting my Stump comic done, which I had resolved to complete at least one issue of before the end of 2011.

This is just Stump's mugshot from when he first arrived on earth. It's kind of a mishmash of pencil work with some all digital elements like the height scale and the plaque with the numbers. The most challenging part was getting the flannel shirt to look right. I had to eventually just go to the Salvation Army and look for a shirt that was a close enough match to use as a reference. I sometimes want to kick myself for choosing a sleeveless plaid shirt for Stump to wear, but it's become such a part of his character that I can't imagine him without it.

Oh yeah, the numbers on the plaque do mean something. Think Hebrew Gematria...
